Why the Wine Glass Shop & good wine glasses?

Why the Wine Glass Shop & good wine glasses?

Centuries ago, drinking from glassware was only for the rich and the royal but I must admit, I still feel privileged when I drink from beautiful glassware. My passion for the perfect wine glass doesn’t start as far back as the first vessel for wine in Egypt and Mesopotamia around 500B.C.E. but simply from my teenage years where celebrations were held within our family home! There was always a party or gathering going on with plenty of wine and cocktails in hand, yes it was the 70s!

Soo, it seems entertaining and organising events had been imbedded into me! We celebrate at home as much as possible, from lobsters on Christmas Day to Fairy Floss Martinis on Australia Day, Fish Feasts for Easter and countless birthday bashes. Exceptional detail given to each occasion means our family time together is always special and cherished, oh and of course it includes drinking yummy wine from the cellar, in.. you guessed it.. the perfect wine glasses! There nothing like that sound of a wine glass goes when it “tings”, CHEERS!

Apart from entertaining, it is in my natural instinct to explore the old and new worlds of food and wine. I have been so lucky to travel to beautiful places such as Tahiti and Singapore along with the many fabulous cities closer to home, most importantly the wine regions within Australia and New Zealand, including the Hunter Valley, Yarra Valley and McLaren Vale just name a few. Grape picking, deep sea fishing and attending Opera’s, Musicals, Ballets and bands. Exploring local restaurants within the dining playgrounds of Sydney and Melbourne all made better with the perfect glass in hand.

Wine's taste is influenced mainly by the size and shape of the glass, the surface area within the bowl helps the aeration and oxidation of the wine to enhance aromas and flavours and a cocktail is always more tasty when accompanied by the perfect glass to compliment the theme… understanding this has only fuelled my fire to ensure everybody has good wine glasses.

Lockdown threw a spanner in the works, but we still managed a fortnightly fancy dress themed virtual wine and food matching tasting with our friends.

No matter what, the weekend is always topped off with the essential Bloody Mary on a Sunday morning.

The experiments will keep on coming but I can provide one conclusion, wine definitely tastes better from a good wine glass!

Hopefully catch you around a barrel for a great wine in a great glass!

Cheers and love from TWGS

#everyone deserves a good wine glass
